Introduction
Welcome, visitor! I’ve created this webpage to publish a new web browser concept I had created. I believe this concept offers what no other web browser does today — it lets you actually get things done efficiently. The whole concept is presented in several articles (you can see the links on the right, under “The Concept”).
The first few articles are mostly about the ideas behind the actual design. You can just skip to viewing the mockups, but you might not get what the design is about if you don’t read about my design principles.
The Q: Is the browser an OS? article is about the first major problem of modern web browsers. They are unaware of other applications beside the browser and duplicate the task management functionality of the operating system instead of cooperating with it.
The Q: Isn’t online content volatile? article practically restates the obvious. Whatever you visit online might get lost forever after you click the close button. This is a serious problem if you need these web pages later, yet there is no real solution today.
E.g., what about this? is a basic example demonstrating the first two problems.
Solution: Think outside the box and save. I elaborate on the box one should think outside to solve the two major shortcomings of all web browsers. This is still just theory, but this is where I share the solution to the problem, so read this if you are just mildly interested in the concept.
I explore some other existing or conceptual solutions that try to cure general problems of web browsers in the Other concepts article.
The Anatomy of the Task Browser discusses my proposed technical implementation of the Task Browser concept. Actually, this is the most important article, as it summarizes every proposed idea in a practical way without going into detail (where the devil lies).
The Mockups of the Task Browser are really no more than some mockups that try to implement the main ideas behind the concept. But they are really no more than some drawings, that I made only because no software concept can exist without them. They could be different (better or worse) in the details, and you must read the articles above if want to understand the whys of this design.
What do I want to achieve with this? I simply want a browser vendor to implement my ideas and create a browser I can actually use to get work done.
Oh, and please share your thoughts about the concept! Follow the blog if you want to stay up to date.
